A masterbatch is a mixture of a polymer and one or more additives. Typically 1 - 5% of masterbatch is added to a virgin polymer in granular form in the processing machine.
An important factor in the production of a masterbatch is the dispersion i.e. that the fine particle size additives and the polymer are mixed together as evenly as possible.
