New PRESEAL® Elastomers - Next Generation EMI Shielding
Premix Oy has released new PRESEAL® Thermoplastic Elastomers for EMI shielding applications. These innovative products PRESEAL® TPE 5020 and PRESEAL® TPE 6080 have significantly improved mechanical and electrical properties. The new PRESEAL® elastomers have also a further enhanced adhesion to even Polyamides and Polycarbonates and with no primer to Aluminium and Stainless Steel. Fewer process steps and faster cycle times leads to cost savings. These next generation raw materials are injection mouldable and extrudable by using conventional thermoplastic machinery.
The end products have an advanced uniform conductivity (from 33 to 100 siemens/cm) even in the surface of the material. What enables that is the matrix structure that holds the conductive filler in place more evenly than earlier solutions. The matrix structure of the elastomers base also improves the mechanical strength, which makes the processing of the new PRESEAL® grades easier. In addition the material has excellent flowing characteristics and compression set. Remarkable cost savings can be achieved through the recycling of the process waste and end products. This is possible without loosing mechanical or electrical properties.
PRESEAL® Thermoplastic Elastomer Compounds offer extremely high conductivity. They are injection-mouldable and extrudable plastics for EMI protection, for gasket applications and housings, among other uses. The material is ideal for demanding applications requiring high conductivity and easy processability. The conductive filler is either silver-coated glass or nickel-coated graphite. PRESEAL® Thermoplastic Elastomer Compounds are suitable for normal thermoplastic processing methods, for complex shapes and sizes and also for mass production. Cycle times are short and there’s no need for vulcanization. Existing PRESEAL® grades are patented; for the new PRESEAL® grades the patent is pending.
